Eligibility Criteria for Constable Posts

Those willing to apply for the post must fulfill the following eligibility criteria required for the post:

  • Age Limit: The candidates applying for the post must have attained a minimum age of 18 years and a maximum age of 22 years. 

The relaxation in the upper age limit is also provided to candidates of the reserved categories.

  1. For SC/ST/OBC candidates (5 years)
  2. For ex-servicemen (3 years)
  3. For Homeguards  (10 years)
  • Educational Qualification: 

The applicants willing to apply must have passed the intermediate or equivalent from a recognized university or institute.

  • Physical Standards: 

Certain minimum physical standards prescribed by the SLPRB authorities regarding chest, height, and weight must be satisfied.

Eligibility Criteria for Sub-Inspector Posts

The candidates who want to apply for the sub-inspector posts must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

  • Age Limit: Only applicants having an age between 21 and 25 years will be considered qualified for the exam. Upper age relaxation is given to candidates of reserved categories.
  1. For SC/ST/OBC candidates (5 years)
  2. For ex-servicemen (3 years)
  3. AP state govt. Employees (3 years)
  • Educational Qualification: The applicants must hold a degree of bachelor’s in a relevant discipline from a recognized university/ institute.
  • Physical Standards: Minimum physical standards prescribed by the concerned authorities must be satisfied by the applicants. Only then they will be considered qualifying for the further selection process.

Salary Details

The salary scale of the post is decided by the concerned officials of the police department.

  • Constable: Rs 16400- 49870 per month
  • Sub-Inspector: Rs 28940-78910 per month
  • Other benefits and perks will be provided based on the rules of the AP Police Department.

Selection Process for Constable Posts/ Sub-Inspector

The candidates who want to apply for the constable posts will have to clear the following stages of examination:

  • Preliminary Written Exam: For both posts, candidates will first have to appear for the preliminary written examination. The exam will be having multiple-choice questions. Candidates of the general category will have to score at least 40% marks to qualify for the exam while 30% marks are required for the reserved category. The preliminary exam is only for qualifying purposes.
  • Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Thereafter the candidates who clear the prelims will have to appear for PMT. In this, the candidates must meet certain prescribed chest, height, and weight measurements to be eligible for the next test.
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): The candidates who clear the PMT must appear for the PET. In this, there are four events: 100-meter run, long jump, 1600-meter run, and 100-meter run with 10 kg weight. There are separate qualifying criteria for both constable and sub-inspector posts.
  • Final Written Exam: Candidates qualifying for PET will be shortlisted for the final written exam. The final written examination will be of a descriptive type. For the final merit list marks obtained in this exam will be taken into consideration.
  • Merit List: At last, the final merit list will be disclosed which will be based on the marks obtained in the final written exam by the candidates. Rankings will be provided to candidates on the basis of those marks.

  • Click on the “recruitment” tab and click on the post you wish to apply for from the list of all recruitments.
  • If you fully satisfy the eligibility criteria of the post then click on the “apply online” tab and register yourself on the portal.
  • Enter your personal, educational, and other details in the application form. 
  • Upload the scanned copy of the required documents such as a photograph, signature, caste certificate, etc. in the prescribed format and size.
